Which gravel for drainage?
The material should suit the drainage solution in the design. The grading, cleanliness and proper separation from the surrounding soil all matter. Aggregate with too many fine particles may behave differently from a material intended to carry water away.
Do not choose a fraction just because it looks good around the house. The surround of a drainage pipe and a decorative gravel border do different jobs. Send us your requirements before you buy so that the right material can be confirmed.
Other uses
For a path or a garden, consider how comfortable it is to use, whether the stones can shift and how the layer will be separated from the ground beneath. For use in concrete, you need a mix specification, not just a choice of aggregate.
Quantity and transport
Converting volume to tonnes requires data for the specific gravel. If the quantity has not been decided yet, give us the area and the thickness of the layer. For delivery, show us where the load should be tipped and tell us about any obstacles above the place where the tipper truck will stand.
