Land levelling — set the target levels for your plot

We carry out land levelling with our excavator, backhoe loader, bulldozer and roller. Levelling prepares the plot for its planned use. Before the quote, specify the levels you expect and what the surface will be used for: a building, an access road, a yard or a garden. Levelling the ground does not have to mean a completely flat surface — falls and water run-off also matter.

Scope of work

Agree what work is to be done, where soil will be dug out and where it will be placed (cut and fill). Topsoil stripping, spreading soil and compaction are separate tasks that must be listed in the order.

The required accuracy and the way levels are checked must match the equipment actually available. Do not judge whether the ground is ready for a surface only by how smooth it looks.

Soil and topsoil

Before work starts, plan where material from the plot will be stockpiled. It is worth keeping the layer intended for a future garden separate from the soil under the structural part.

We do not sell soil or topsoil. Removing material from the site, if needed, and the terms for this must be agreed separately; it is not automatically part of the levelling service.

Quote and timing

The scope depends on the area, the difference in levels, the type and moisture of the soil and the access. Agree whether the work requires a survey, replacing material or compaction afterwards. The time needed can only be estimated once these details are known. We charge a fixed price per job for levelling — the price covers the agreed scope of work.

Questions about levelling

What happens to the topsoil?

How it is stripped and where it is stockpiled must be part of the agreed scope.

Is the ground compacted after levelling?

Not as a result of levelling alone. We have a roller, but compaction and how it will be checked must be specified in the job scope.

What does the cost depend on?

On the scope of work, the ground conditions, moving material and access for the machines. We charge a fixed price for the whole job, not per machine hour.
