Crushed stone and chippings — crushed aggregates
Crushed stone and chippings are names of crushed aggregates used when ordering materials for various layers. Before you buy, check the actual grading and properties. A trade name is no substitute for an aggregate specification.
At Betoniarnia Jakubowice we sell them by the tonne. We also offer sub-base mixes. The terms for collection and tipper truck delivery have to be agreed for the quantity and the delivery location.

Crushed stone versus chippings
Our crushed stone and chippings are available in the 0–31.5 and 31.5–63 mm fractions. The same names can mean different grain sizes at different suppliers, so when you order, give the designation of the fraction you need.
Material for the layer
The material for a sub-base is chosen with the ground and the expected traffic in mind. A coarser grain is not automatically better. The grading, the workmanship and the compaction also matter.
We cover aggregate for roads in our guide. The scope of work for road and car park sub-bases is described on a separate page.
Quantity and delivery
Work out the volume of the layer, then apply the conversion data for the specific material. Take into account whether the dimension refers to the loose layer or to the layer after compaction. We deliver by tipper truck from a few tonnes; if you collect it yourself, check the payload of your vehicle.
Questions about crushed stone
How many tonnes for a driveway?
You need the area, the layer build-up and the material data. Just naming the use is not enough.
Is it enough to drive over the material with a car?
Do not treat this as proof of proper compaction. The method and the equipment are decided by the contractor.
Do you have a specific type of rock?
The origin and availability have to be confirmed for the material currently supplied; we do not assume the type from the old website description.
